Rain Diary is a band from frosty Finland. Name of the band is related with beginning when lyrics was mostly based on acoustic verses, it was kind of diary, while “rain” describes mood of songs. Their music is characterized by variety, wide musical scale from atmospheric tunes through gothis to electronic ornaments. Furthermore also Tommi’s voice deftly connect this varied musical landscape. Rain Diary music still evolves. On first EP their music is something like brit pop / gothic rock, currently band evolving in other way. Still it’s connection gothic and rock, but there is place also for atmospheric tunes with addition of electro. Good example of changing style is “Sera” or at least single “By The Water”.

History of Rain Diary begins when Joni and Teemu’s band split up as a result of musical differences amongst the musicians. Both were playing there for eight years and have the same vision of band with slow, deep, melancholic tunes. Also Tommi, vocalist of Soulrelic wasn’t satisfied with his band. Soulrelic had motivational problems after their record deal with Spinefarm was put on hold.

Joni met Tommi for the first time on Soulrelic gig. He was astonished by his voice, the dynamics in it. They become friends and after some time Tommi joined to Joni and Teemu creating new project. Then, the bass player, Teemu came bringing something to Rain Diary music. Next one was Topi, Teemu’s friend, who was in the same situation as his friend. He was forced to leave his band Figure, because they were moving towards something that Topi wasn’t comfortable playing. And the last one who joined was Tytti. She bring brought to the band not only skilled keyboards but also delicatebackground voice. Rain Diary family was born.

Then, with full line-up in autumn 2008 delicate “Rain Diary” was released. EP, supporting by music video for the song “It’s Only Rain”, was quickly sold out and became an underground favourite in semi-gothic circles. In Spring 2009 Rain Diary started to work on its debut album with the producer Jaani Peuhu, known from cooperation with bands like: Iconcrash or Thunderstone. In the meanwhile, though chan ges in line up, band released singles: „Lost”, „By The Water” supported by music videos and independent avant-garde music video “Sera”. Currently band is working on debut album and still seeking a record deal to elevate things to a whole new professional level.
