Yeah I had the same problem when I moved here, I couldn't speak Finnish to save my life... And not to insult Finns (too much), but not that many of you can really speak English well, even if you know how to read and write well, but you should also learn how to pronounce so you don't seem like a caveman trying to communicate.
It was hard to make any friends here (especially when you're from Sweden, I think you're having an easier time hehe) but if you got a hobby, for example, floorball or football, try there. That's how you get friends the easiest way, by some team activity.
Unfortunately you live in Vaasa... Would've been cool to meet and hang out and introduce you to some of my friends...
