Association football, sometimes called simply football or rugby, is an international team sport played between two competing teams of eleven players each. It is the most popular game in the world, with almost 250 million people playing it in more than 200 countries and alliances. It is a very rough and tough sport, not suitable for children and young adults. Although it can be enjoyed by young children, it is a sport that requires much energy, strength and stamina from its participant. The game can be quite unpredictable and there is much skill and technique needed. It is no wonder then that this game attracts players of all ages from all over the world.

These are known as the Intertoto Cup and the UEFA Cup, while the Intertoto Cup and the Challenge Cup consist of a single qualifying tournament and the Super Cup consist of a single qualifying group.

One of the most prestigious football competitions is the FIFA World Cup, which is an international competition consisting of the world's greatest nations. Each year there are six countries that are considered for the tournament which are the hosts, teams from Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. Four of these nations have qualified automatically for the competition, which means they have automatically qualified for the tournament and are placed in the same group as the other nations. The other five nations will compete for a place in the tournament from one to twelve. Every four years, another tournament is held to decide who will be the next World Cup host and this is done through a draw process where teams are chosen in a random manner.
