We did some vocal work with Jukka to 'Suspicious Mind/Haunted by the night'.. and it didn't really go that well. I got so frustrated, first the song seemed to be in too high of a key for me to sing, then we lowered it and then I sang it so poorly that it made me mad. I went home and did some vocal work and listened to both versions of the song, and cannot really decide whichone is better. We'll need another opinion.
Jukka had also started to do a new demo, he was inspired by these lyrics I had writter about people wanting to kill me.. which inpired this fun t-shirt I made for halloween:
(pic there ->) Cute, right? Well, the song sorta started as a funny song about me being on top of the world and no one can bring me down and ya can't kill me no matter how hard ya try... Good song. I kept having these dreams at night, coould not sleep really and I kept waking up in the midlle of the night and I was humming this song in my head... Weird. I had really goo verses but the chorus didnt match the sorta ironic tune of the verese... One night I just woke up and wrote a whole new song... It's better. About a suffocating bad relationship... it's called ''Surrender''. We'll record it next week.
I also saw Jimi. I haven't seen him in a few weeks. He's been busy making his own album... We've called, we talk almost daily :) We spent a day in the studio working on a song called ''Distance to Love''. I love this tune. It was an old demo that has been laying around for a while.. I sent it to my friend Richard Ogawa in New York Cityyyyy, if he'd come up with a groovy song melody for it. Me and Jimi and Heikki have all been lost with it. The music for the song is so overpowering that it was hard to write text or a singing melody to it.. But we did know it was a killer track. A while ago me and Richard worked on it and then that sorta opened the gate-ways to what the song could be - - - Me and richard had worked on some text but that was all thrown away (it happens alot) .
So this week me and Jimi sat down and threw and idea together. I LOVE IT. I adore it. I am all about it. It is so dramatic and haunting and crazy and emotional... Richard was feeling it 2. Heikki needs some convinsing. He feels it's a tad 'weird' as he put it... But I think it's gonna be great.
This weekend I am staying home to work on a song called ''POP LIFE''. Within the drama I really wanna have a fun song in the midst in the album. a camp classic. Richard has promised to make it into a hit. He'd better. I am wasting a weekend on this.
