Poplegenda Michael Jackson on kuollut. Tähti kuoli sydänkohtauksen los angelesilaisessa sairaalassa.

Ensihoitajat löysivät Jacksonin kotoaan tajuttomana iltakymmeneltä Suomen aikaa. Ensihoitajien saapuessa Jackson ei hengittänyt. Paineluelvytyksen jälkeen Jackson vietiin sairaalaan noin klo 23 Suomen aikaa. Sairaalaan tullessaan Jackson oli vaipunut koomaan.

50-vuotiaan Jacksonin piti aloittaa pitkä konserttikiertue ensi kuussa. Noin viisikymmentä konserttia sisältävä kiertue olisi kestänyt maaliskuuhun asti. Jackson ehti jo lykätä kiertueensa alkamisaikoja. Tuolloin kiertueen järjestävät tähdensivät, etteivät lykkäykset johtuneet Jacksonin terveydentilasta.
