The components required to set up this type of VPN are the same as the previous type, except that often, there is no need to have a client on each computer.

This type of VPN is divided into two other types:

1- Based on the Internet: If the company has one or more remote locations that want to connect to each other and share their local network with each other, they use VPN based on the Internet.

2- Extranet-based: If companies or organizations want to communicate with each other but do not need the Internet, they can connect their intranet network to another intranet network using extranet-based VPN. In this way, they can work together and protect their intranet network.
